2. Consignment Sale - This approach will normally net you the most money for your gun but you have to wait untill the gun is sold to receive payment.
3. Consignment Auction - Some guns typically sell for higher prices through auction than in our store. Let our sales experts guide you based on the specific model and condition of your gun.
If you live close to San Antonio, the best approach is to bring your guns to our store, so that we can see them and help determine the best sale option for you

What is 41f?

On January 15, 2016, the rule, known as 41F, was published in the Federal Register by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).  This new rule, affecting the transfer of items that are regulated by the National Firearms Act (NFA), will significantly alter the way that individual members of “gun trusts” or “NFA trusts” operate with regard to possessing NFA items.
The good news is that Dury’s Gun Shop will be able to do all of this here on sight to make things easy for our customers purchasing any NFA items.
Here are some important things you need to know about 41F.

• Effective date:  July 13, 2016

Though 41F was signed on January 4, 2016,  it will have an effective date of July 13, 2016 – 180 days after being published in the Federal Register.

• Requirements of a “responsible person” when submitting Form 1 or 4 applications

Rule 41F mandates that any responsible person submitting a Form 1 or 4 application, on behalf of a trust, must include

1. a 2×2-inch photograph of themselves taken within the year prior to the date of the application
2. two fingerprint cards
3. a completed NFA Responsible Person Questionnaire (ATF Form 5320.23)
4. a copy of their trust
5. $200 “tax stamp” check or money order made to the  ATF (or a $5 “tax stamp” for AOW)

In addition, after the effective date of the rule, ALL responsible persons of a trust must submit, along with the applicant

1. a 2×2-inch photograph of themselves taken within the year prior to the date of the application
2. two fingerprint cards
3. a completed NFA Responsible Person Questionnaire (ATF Form 5320.23)

Further, an applicant must send a completed copy of their form to their local chief law enforcement officer (CLEO) and all responsible persons must also submit Form 5320.23s to their CLEOs.

• Definition of “responsible person” as it applies to trusts

According to the rule, a responsible person is any member of a trust “who [has] the power and authority to direct the management and policies of the trust or legal entity to receive, possess, ship, transport, deliver, transfer, or otherwise dispose of a firearm for, or on behalf of, the trust or entity.” This definition effectively includes any individual who might be involved in the acquisition or construction of an NFA item.

• Removal of the CLEO sign-off requirement

One of the good things to come out of 41F is the removal of the CLEO sign-off requirement for individual applicants.  Now individual applicants simply need to submit a notification to their local CLEO by way of sending them a copy of all pertinent documents.
While trust applicants were not required to obtain CLEO sign-off before, 41F mandates that they must notify their local CLEO of any manufacture or transfer of an NFA item.

• It is NOT retroactive

Any Form 1 (manufacture) or Form 4 (transfer) applications submitted to the ATF postmarked July 13, 2016 or earlier will be evaluated according to the current rules for making and transferring NFA items—even if your forms aren’t approved until after July 13, 2016.

• Trusts still have value up to and after July 13, 2016

In the lead-up to July 13, 2016, gun trusts will still be just as advantageous to use as they are now.
Following the full implementation of 41F, trusts will still be eminently useful as means for inexpensively transferring NFA items to one’s descendants in the event of trust-holder’s death. In addition, trusts are still the most legally-sound method of responsibly sharing NFA items with others.

- ALWAYS Keep Your Finger Off The Trigger Until Ready To Shoot: When holding a gun, rest your finger alongside the frame and outside the trigger guard. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

- ALWAYS Keep The Gun Unloaded Until Ready To Use:
If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.

On Target: Proper Preparation Helps Make Every Shot Count

    While there are a select few hunters who favor and can properly handle a single shot rifle, it is highly recommended that making the first shot count should be everyone’s goal on the range or in the field.
    One shot and done is a worthy achievement that speaks highly of a shooter’s skill level whenever a rifle is being put into play.  However, that high level of performance requires a well-maintained shooting tool; proper preparation; and well-practiced shooting skills.
    Single-shot rifles are normally carried by a man or woman who appreciates the importance and challenge of placing an accurate shot at the right time and the right place.
   Although single-shot accuracy is often a matter of personal pride with today’s shooter, there was a time when the ability to hit a target with one shot could be a matter of life or death.
   The case of the second battle of Adobe Walls is a perfect example of how important one-shot accuracy can be to a shooter.
    According to the website www.oldwestlibrary.com:
     “At two in the morning on June 27, 1874, the ridgepole holding up the sod roof of the saloon broke with a loud crack. Everyone in the saloon and several other men from the town immediately set to repair the damage.
   “Thus, most of the inhabitants were already wide awake and up and about when, at dawn, a combined force of Comanche, Cheyenne and Kiowa warriors (estimated in excess of 700 strong and led by Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, son of a captured white woman, Cynthia Ann Parker) swept across the plains, intent on erasing the populace of Adobe Walls.
    “The initial attack almost carried the day; the Indians were in close enough to pound on the doors and windows of the buildings with their rifle butts. The fight was in such close quarters the hunters' long range rifles were useless. They were fighting with pistols and Henry and Winchester lever-action rifles in .44 rimfire. After the initial attack was repulsed, the hunters were able to keep the Indians at bay with their Sharps rifles.
     “The Indians rode out of range and camped in the distance while deciding how to handle the situation, effectively laying siege to Adobe Walls.
     “The second day after the initial attack, 15 warriors rode out on a bluff nearly a mile away to survey the situation. Some reports indicate they were taunting the Adobe Walls defenders but, at the distance involved, it seems unlikely.
    “At the behest of one of the hunters, William “Billy” Dixon, already renowned as a crack shot, took aim with a 'Big Fifty' Sharps (it was either a .50-70 or -90, probably the latter) he had borrowed . . . and cleanly dropped a warrior from atop his horse. This apparently so discouraged the Indians they decamped and gave up the fight.
     “Two weeks later, a team of U.S. Army surveyors, under the command of Nelson A. Miles, measured the distance of the shot: 1,538 yards, or nine-tenths of a mile. For the rest of his life, Billy Dixon never claimed the shot was anything other than a lucky one.”
    Today’s shooter who wants to be among the top marksmen at a hunting camp or shooting range has a variety of single-shot rifles to consider; in addition to fine-tuned bolt-action rifles that can also be up to the one-shot shooting test.

Pistols for sale under the GLOCK LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM are shipped direct from Glock, Inc., not a commercial distributor.

We constantly have all models on order, but have no way of knowing which models we'll receive or when, or what quantities we'll receive. We cannot begin to even give an estimated delivery date for a particular model. Time frames can range from a couple of weeks to several months.

To be put on the waiting list and be given a phone call when the guns arrive, we require at least 50% down payment. This deposit can be taken in person or by phone. When the guns arrive, we call customers on the waiting list, in date order, and notify them that their gun has arrived and is available for purchase. If any guns are left after the waiting list is taken care of, we put them out for sale in the Law Enforcement area to qualified buyers.
